Dr. Shaykh offers affordable tubal reversal surgery for self-pay patients at a discounted, all-inclusive rate. This includes all of the fees such as surgeon, anesthesiologist, and operating room fees! Financing and payment options are also available. Tubal reversal is a form of treatment for patients that have had a tubal ligation (or tubes tied) or patients who had their tubes blocked by a device called ESSURE, and now wish to get pregnant again.

Tubal ligation reversal surgery may be a good option based on several factors, including age and health, the method used in the tubal ligation, and the amount of fallopian tube tissue that remains to work with.

If the tubal reversal is not the best option for you then In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is still available.

    * Other factors such as BMI or any previous surgeries may increase costs.

Can Your Tubal Ligation Be Reversed?

Before we schedule surgery for tubal reversal we usually ask for a copy of the operative report of the tubal ligation surgery.

If we can get a copy of that report we can give you an idea of what your chance of pregnancy is and whether other options would be better for you. There is no charge for that review, Because we can almost open most of the tubes the chance of pregnancy can vary. And in certain cases in vitro fertilization for invocell may give you a better option.

If you cannot get a copy of your operative report, several options can be discussed with you at the time of your consultation. We ultimately want you to get pregnant and would like to give you the best option.

    Does Tubal Reversal work?

In certain situations, tubal reversal would be your best option for pregnancy, however, in other situations, you may be better off with in vitro fertilization. All this will be discussed with you at the time of your consultation. At our Assisted Fertility Program, we offer tubal reversal surgery as well as in vitro fertilization, Invocell, and the GIFT procedure all these will be discussed with you at the time of your consultation

    How is Tubal Ligation Reversed?

Once the decision is made to proceed with surgery a specific date is picked. The procedure is done on that day and the patient can go back home the same day or travel back the next day. It is an outpatient procedure that takes about two hours and the patient stays in recovery for about an hour prior to leaving. Usually, a post-operative appointment can be made a week after the surgery. If the patient lives far from Jacksonville, that appointment can be made as a telemedicine appointment through video. The incision is made right above the pubic bone area or in the previous C-section scar. The incision is usually around 4 inches.

There are several hotels adjacent to the surgery center. We do have a special accommodation rate for some of them.

We usually bring the patient back in six months if a pregnancy is not achieved to check if the tubes are still open. Of course, at the time of the procedure, we take photos of the tubes showing that they are patent. However unfortunately occasionally scar reforms in the tubes. If that happens the patient would be a candidate for either Invocell or in vitro fertilization. These patients get a 15% discount on their charge.

Which Ligation Procedures Can Be Reversed?

Most tubal ligation procedures can be reversed. Tubal clips such as Filshie or Hulka clips would give you your best chance of pregnancy. Hysteroscopic tubal occlusion with Essure or Adiana will give a chance of pregnancy of about 30%. Tubal coagulation or burning as well as tubal ligation and resection such as parkland, Pomeroy, or Irving procedures will give a chance of pregnancy depending on where the tubes were tied and how much segment of tube is left. Unfortunately, that information sometimes cannot be obtained until the time of surgery, hence an option of laparoscopy prior to surgery will help us determine the exact percentage of pregnancy. At option can be discussed with Dr. Shaykh.

Unfortunately lately patients have been having salpingectomies, in other words, are having their tubes completely removed. In that case, the only option the patient has is in vitro fertilization or Invocell

I had my tubal ligation in 2012 after my third son. I was only 24. Since then I have went through a divorce and I have been with my new partner for three years. We had always talked about wanting a baby together and I am only 32 so I knew I needed to hurry up and get on it if I was going to do this. We found about the assisted fertility clinic through someone I knew who had also used this same clinic and so we went for it. I drove to Jacksonville FL from Georgia with my sister and older niece by my side. Had my surgery last week July 30,2020. I am 8 days post OP and feel great. I can tell you this surgery is nothing easy nor can I tell you you won’t be in pain I would be lyining. What I can tell you is that thos offfice does a great job. Miss Brenda helped me through all my questions and fears. Also Jacksonville surgery center had great nurses and made my day as comfortable as could be. If you have a tubal reversal in your mind, I HIGHLY recommend Assosted Fertility Program you will leave 100% satisfied!!!!
