Advances in assisted reproductive technology have enabled many lesbian, gay, and/or transgender couples and individuals, to achieve their dreams of starting a family. At the Assisted Fertility Program, we are proud to serve the LGBTQ+ community in achieving their dreams of having a baby. The Assisted Fertility Program does not discriminate based on gender and feels every person is entitled to be able to experience the joy of having a baby while being free from judgement.
The success rates for treatment varies based on the woman’s health, age and many other factors. Dr. Shaykh will discuss the potential success rate after examination of the uterus and ovaries and after a health history has been completed.
Ovulation induction with intrauterine insemination using donor sperm.
IVF using your own egg and donor sperm.
IVF using one partner as the “egg donor” and the other carrying the pregnancy.
IVC where both women are able to carry the pregnancy at some point in treatment.
For gay men, using an egg donor and a gestational surrogate can make their dreams of having a family come true. The assisted fertility program has a database of anonymous egg donors and gestational surrogates who can make it possible for gay men to have a baby. An egg donor and gestational surrogate simply needs to be selected, and one of both men if desired can provide a semen specimen on the day of the egg retrieval from the donor to be mixed with the eggs. The fertilized embryos will be allowed to grow for several days and then placed into the uterus of the gestational surrogate to carry the pregnancy to term. IVF using an egg donor has approximately a 60-70% success rate.It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.
